The prevalence of bleeding disorders is particularly high among women with heavy menstrual bleeding. In this report,
we present case of a female who complained of abnormal uterine bleeding for 3 weeks. We performed a
blood test to check for coagulation system. Hemoglobin, platelet count, prothrombin time and activated thromboplastin
time were normal range. But von Willebrand factor was decreased. We asked for hematologic internal medicine
for joint treatment. We also performed ristocetin cofactor assay, bleeding time, platelet aggregation test. She
was diagnosed with von Willebrand disease. Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is one of the most commonly encountered
medical problems. AUB includes a number of different types of bleeding pattern, but careful medical,
family, and social history are essential in the diagnosis and management of AUB. For the accurate diagnosis of
bleeding disorders, proper training of physicians is the need of time, which in turn will help in better patient care.
